Hung between the two highest points in MacRitchie, the TreeTop Walk puts you level with the rainforest canopy, 25 metres above the forest floor.
The HSBC TreeTop Walk is a 250-metre freestanding suspension bridge strung between two hills in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, the green heart of the island and its main water catchment. From the deck you look straight into the crowns of the trees, 25 metres above the forest floor. The reserve, more than 2,000 hectares of forest around MacRitchie and the other central reservoirs, is also the last refuge in Singapore of Raffles' banded langur, a shy leaf monkey.
There is no short way in. Route 3 is a 10.3 km loop from MacRitchie Reservoir Park; Route 6, about 7 km, starts at Windsor Nature Park on Venus Drive, a 1.2 km walk from Upper Thomson MRT. Allow three to four hours, set off early, before the heat, and keep food out of sight of the macaques that live along the trails.
