On the northern edge of the Central Catchment’s forests, the Mandai reserve gathers six wildlife attractions, from an open-concept zoo to a park that opens only after dark.

Singapore Zoo opened on 27 June 1973 with 272 animals and made its name with open, natural habitats; Mandai calls it the world’s first open-concept zoo. Today it holds more than 4,200 animals from over 300 species. The Night Safari, opened in 1994 as the world’s first nocturnal wildlife park, is home to more than 900 nocturnal animals, seen from a tram and on four walking trails.

The reserve also holds River Wonders, with Singapore’s giant pandas, Bird Paradise and its walk-through aviaries, the two zones of Rainforest Wild Adventure, the newer of which opened in May 2026, and the indoor Exploria. The M2 Khatib Shuttle runs from Khatib MRT every 15–20 minutes, and multi-park passes cover two or more attractions.
