When the sun goes down over Mandai, the Night Safari opens its gates on more than 900 nocturnal animals, seen from a tram and along forest trails.
The Night Safari opened on 3 May 1994, with an official opening on 26 May, as the world's first nocturnal wildlife park. Its 35 hectares in the Mandai Wildlife Reserve are home to more than 900 nocturnal animals. Ride the Safari Adventure Tram, with English audio commentary, then walk the Tasmanian Devil, Pangolin, Leopard and East Lodge trails; the trails and tram start from 7pm.
The park opens at 6pm, with last entry at 11.15pm, so it pairs well with an afternoon at Singapore Zoo or Bird Paradise in the same reserve. The M2 Khatib Shuttle runs from Khatib MRT every 15 to 20 minutes (S$2.50 one way, contactless payment only). Book ahead, arrive early in the evening and allow several hours.
