Ten minutes by bumboat from Changi, Pulau Ubin keeps the rhythm of the old kampung, with wooden villages, old quarries and mangroves.
Bumboats cross from Changi Point Ferry Terminal in about ten minutes. There is no timetable: a boat usually leaves once 12 passengers have gathered, from around 6 am to 7 pm. NParks lists the fare as S$4 per person each way, plus S$2 with a bicycle, but boatmen asked S$5 in 2025, so agree the fare before you board. In the main village you can rent a bicycle or hire a van.
Ride to Chek Jawa at the island’s south-eastern tip, about 3 km from the jetty, where sandy and rocky beach, seagrass lagoon, coral rubble, mangrove and coastal forest meet. Boardwalk loops cross the shore and the mangrove, and the 21-metre Jejawi Tower climbs seven storeys. At low tide the flats reveal sea stars, sand dollars and octopuses; watch, too, for oriental pied hornbills.
